It’s been longer than I’d hoped since my last letter, mostly because my family and I took a trip to Miami for the kids’ Spring Break. I feel completely revived! There’s just something magical about the sun — it lifts the spirit and finally gave me a chance to wear all the fun outfits I’d been patiently saving.
The best part about dressing for warm weather is how naturally it invites more color and print into the mix. I packed some fun pieces for both myself and the kids — while I usually stick to more tonal, muted looks, I love seeing the kids in bold patterns and vibrant colors.

Some playful resort pieces from Cadets — Poppy loved the stretchy fabric and perfect color of the swimsuit. I love how all these colors played off each other.
On luggage: I had mainly been a rolling duffle kind of girl, but recently did a deep dive on luggage, as I wanted to find a piece that I could stack my personal item tote on top of. My requirements were that the luggage needs to open on the top (rather than a clamshell opening), that it’s designed well, durable, and just the right size and proportions. I found this Japanese brand Lojel, and went for the Cubo Fit. The volume is similar to my Patagonia Black Hole bag, but it has a slender profile, and has an expandable body. So far I am loving it. Would love to hear thoughts on your favorite travel bags and luggage—please share!
I tend to love an open tote as my carry-on as it doubles as my beach bag. I bring lots of pouches so it stays organized inside.
More pouches and organizers. I made some of these for a friend’s girls’ trip to Paris, and decided to make myself one too! The big striped pouch carries all of my hair and shower items, and the Paravel Vanity Case is perfect for my skincare and smaller items.
I ended up wearing this Tory Burch set a couple of times as it worked well for during the day, over my bathing suit, and then out to dinner in the evening.

More bags and more pouches. I love this Left on Friday pouch for carrying all the sunscreens for the family, and it’s perfect for wet bathing suits at the end of the day. Not shown, me in my favorite Left on Friday two-piece.
I brought one button-down shirt by Ozma, that was perfect for the plane, for layering throughout the trip, and was the perfect layer when my shoulders were getting too much sun. I am in love with these jelly flip flops by Christopher Esber. (Also found some incredible more affordable versions here and here)

My friend Nikki in a hand-painted sun hat by Romualda, I’m considering getting one as it’s packable and light, and is like a built in beach umbrella.

Hand-painted striped pants from World of Crow and Kule striped bucket bag
Obsessed with my Brigitte Tanaka organza bags and this leather clutch from Callista
The kids in their fun airplane outfits. Just noticing how short their pants are getting. I got Kai’s from Milk Teeth, and Poppy’s from Bobo Choses. They love soft and comfy things and their other favorite pieces were sets from Earthlings United. I’ve made a pile of outgrown pieces to send to Noomoon Shop—it’s an incredible second-hand kids store in San Francisco!
Off to enjoy the now warm weather here in New York.

How do I get one of those Hermes canvas pouches?! Love it
Joyce--your kids clothes are such #goals. A few years ago, during Covid, I bought a couple of your kids' sweatshirts from you from instagram! They were worn for so long and well-loved. This entire post makes me want to go on vacation RIGHT now.
