Once the weather starts to swing from one day feeling like a great idea for the beach, and the next being crisp and cool, it’s time to think about transitional dressing for Fall. I go through such a mix of emotions, I hang onto every day that I can still wear a bare sandal, even if I’m throwing a sweater over my shoulders for the moment the temperature decides to dramatically drop.
But I have to say, I have so much fun thinking about a transitional Fall wardrobe - especially all the new layers, soft textures off of the crisp shirtings, a variety of fabrications in bottoms. Lots of denim, slouchy trousers, utility pants. The light outerwear layers, the cozy knits, all the jackets! I get excited about the versatile layers that can be worn on their own, or just as easily layered together for some fun Fall styling.
And then, there’s all the gorgeous colors and textures in accessories - the supple suedes, the rich tones in leathers….
I thought I’d pull together some of my styling inspiration and some new Fall essentials here.

You may already own a lot of these pieces in your closet, but it’s always fun to bring in a little refresh of those favorite items that will undoubtedly be worn on repeat - in some new colors, materials, or proportions. I tend to invest in a couple of new special outerwear pieces and accessories and build on any gaps in my wardrobe foundations throughout the season.

I love transition season and enjoy the challenge of dressing for the 50 degree weather in the morning that turns into a balmy 78 degrees in the afternoon. Olive and grey are my favorite colors so I’ve been eyeing the Chava shirt and Jamie Haller sweatshirt since you wore them! 😍
