Always a treat to see your packing, but what I really want is an image of your bag closet once you’re home. You have more totes than, well, anyone on Substack, and it would be fun to see them all in their natural habitat.
Beyond honoured to have Anteros included ! Also I spy the mini backgammon board, currently on holiday and have the same one in my bag! Perfect for days by the water
I have two back-to-back trips coming up in the fall and I will absolutely refer to this list!
My tip that I have benefitted from is to save every packing list as a doc labeled “Barcelona 2026”, or whatever. If it’s a destination I return to often it’s “New York June 2026”. These serve as a baseline whenever I set out to make a new packing list. Of course the preferred items change, but the framework still makes sense. If I wildly overpacked or wasn’t prepared for rain those notes get added too. Mine are just Word docs, but you can put them in any format that makes sense.
Love this idea! I have a bunch of my packing lists on my notes app but I like having more info to keep them organized this way. Thanks for sharing Robin!
Joyce, may I ask the size of the Etsy satin pouch? I followed your link and there are several choices. Trying to determine scale. I loved this post so much. Thank you!!
I think it depends on what you need to carry. I have two sizes - the XXS portrait for my smaller things, and the XS portrait that I carry as a pouch/clutch.
A genuine question because I never understood this - "A bathing suit that doubles as a top and can be dressed up with a shoe and jewelry for dinner." - this is a very common advice but how are we actually wearing the salt-marked bathing suit that I sweated through earlier in the day as a top for evening? Or is it only if you haven't actually worn it to the beach then? I'm always confused by this 🤷♀️
Yes exactly! A clean and dry one-piece! Or if it’s during the day and you’re wearing it, throwing on a skirt or a sarong and a sheer top makes it great for a casual afternoon spritz!

I wish I had a closet to keep all of my totes, that would be my ultimate dream!

The Pompon is a packing-style no-brainer. So glad to be in the edit, Joyce.

Can I hire you to pack for my next trip? You’re a PRO
I would LOVE to! :) That would be so much fun!
So good - as always! I love the Donni shirt! Do you think it could stand hand washing rather than dry cleaning?
I tend to handwash a lot of my dry-clean only pieces, but I haven't tried with this top yet!

The kind of newsletter to reference time and time again. So good! Makes me want to go on vacation ASAP.
Yes!! I haven’t vacationed all summer and now it’s on my mind as we head to Barcelona! Very excited!!! Hope you get a trip soon!

I just bought the LOF Retreat suit before a two week trip to Spain recently and I wore it constantly – it’s SO good!
Thank you for asking! I’ve wondered the exact same thing every time someone suggests the “bathing suit but doubles as a top” tip.
I still don't buy it 😀 cant be bothered to wear spanx when I don't have to😅
