Last week I had the opportunity to attend FIT’s Accessories Design Student Awards Night as a judge, and was so excited to be back after graduating from the same program two decades ago. As I was on the stage about to present the Footwear Design award, I recalled the moment I knew I wanted to become a footwear designer. At the age of 6, I remember my unwavering obsession for jelly shoes - those candy-colored, sometimes glittery, wearable delights. I would beg, cry and beg my Mom over and over, but she just never gave in. Everytime I saw a pair, I felt immense and pure joy. I was determined to have a pair for myself, and attempted to construct something out of plastic six-pack rings and scotch tape. That love of the jelly has never left my body, and I am more than thrilled that the nostalgia is back with all kinds of takes on jelly shoes and bags and can finally realize my lifelong dream. The Row started it with the gorgeous Mara flats and the tantalizing tote. I rounded up a few of my favorite options out there right now.
This style also in some lovely colorways.
These have blown out quickly, but they are restocked now. I wear the clear ones and can say that they are comfortable, padded, and my feet don’t actually feel the slightest bit sweaty in them.
This jelly tote is so fun for the Summer days and makes a great beach bag too.
Ancient Greek jelly flats in all these fun colors
Fisherman Jellies that feel chic with the elevated sole and footbed.
Jelly flip flops that I want in every single color.
Hope these all bring you as much joy as they bring me!!

Good Morning, not a fan of the jelly, but I would love to know about that suede bag they (you?) are carrying with the clear pair? I am a fan of this newsletter and also a Madewell wearer transport tote owner since day one. Happy Sunday
Joyce, you designed so many of the accessories that I loved in years past, so glad to find you on substack 😊 I don't have any jelly shoes, but I do remember they were the IT shoe for the 8-and-under set when I was growing up, and I love the pure childhood joy and nostalgia they evoke!
